Aerospace & Defence

A wide range of materials can be cut, from Kevlar composites, used in personnel & vehicular armour to heavy plate steel up to 250mm. In the aerospace sector installations include production of small vanes using microcut technology, blanking of Titanium plate for production of wide chord fan blades, and trimming to near nett shape of 3D formed blades with BevelJet technology.

For fabricated assemblies, 5 Axis abrasive water jet cutters are utilised for processing of items such as combustion casings. With no heat effected zone components are left relatively stress free when compared to traditional metal cutting processes.

Inkjet marking, that can be included on our Premium and Grand water jet cutting machines, allows for information such as part numbers, material batch numbers, order numbers etc to be printed on each profile, giving traceability and reducing a source of error.

Special Metals Cutting

Cut a wide range of metals up to 300mm thick including aluminium, titanium, yellow metals, inconels, monels, duplex steels as well as wear and armour plate grades.

Eliminate cost and lead time plus reduce your supply chain since machine parts no longer need to be finished as a separate operation thanks to the close tolerance offered by water jet cutters.

BevelJet technology allows for features such as weld preparations and countersinks to be added to the profile without the need for post operation fixturing and machining.

Inkjet marking can be included on the Premium and Grand water jet cutters to allow for information such as part numbers, material batch numbers, order numbers etc to be printed on each profile, giving traceability and reducing a source of error.

General Fabrication & Sheet Metal Cutting

Produce accurate profiles in a wide range of material types and thicknesses. This makes water jet cutting ideal for lower batch sizes and more bespoke designs where it is not unusual to be working between stainless steels, carbon steels, yellow metals and aluminium within a short space of time.

BevelJet technology is particularly suited to the fabrication industry, with features such as countersunk holes being produced in the same operation as the main profile. This eliminates positioning errors that can happen with secondary operations.

The ability to produce several types of weld preparation on the profile to a high degree of accuracy satisfies the stringent requirements for safety critical welds.

Stone, Ceramic & Glass Cutting

Cut anything from a thin ceramic tile through to 250mm granite with decorative inlays from materials such as stainless steel, brass, copper, and contrasting stone able to be cut on same machine. You can cut, etch, pocket and profile to provide complete and innovative solutions.

Abrasive water jet cutting can be used to create maximum impact projects such as the famous Comedy Carpet in Blackpool, where 180,000+ individual profiles were cut.

Special software modules allow original artwork to be scanned and automatic nesting groups pieces together for maximum material utilisation. For paving and tiling, even the grout width is taken into account to create flowing, natural lines.

Gaskets & Sealing Solutions

Ideal for OEM and aftermarket manufacturers. Materials such as laminated graphite and thin metallic gaskets can be processed without damage to the parent material with no heat-affected zone and burr-free.

Customers include E. Dobson Gaskets, Gee Graphite, One Stop Sealing and Specialised Engineering Products, amongst the largest and most respected manufacturers of a wide range of sealing solutions.

Water jet cutting requires no tooling cost and next to no lead time, making it ideal for requirements ranging from a one off seal required quickly for a site repair to OEM businesses where up to 12 cutting heads can be used at the same time to satisfy high volumes.

Oil & Gas

Cut materials such as inconels, hastelloys and stainless steels up to 250mm thick with high reliability as there is no heat-affected zone (HAZ) in the parent material meaning there is no change to the material structure by adding heat.

Water jet cutting produces finished or near to nett shape parts with smooth edge finishes, reduced scrap and often eliminates secondary machining operations.

Extensive work is carried out to support R&D departments on prototypes and testing, together with serial production parts manufacture. Production of valve bodies, flanges, gates and many other parts are common. Water jet cutters have also proved to be an effective for the removal of flash from castings and forgings.
